It’s our mission and it starts with the people working here. JetBlue crewmembers inspire. From our hometown Terminal Five (T5) at New York’s JFK Airport to the runway at San Juan, crewmembers are the heart of our brand. They make inspiring humanity happen, a single action at a time.
Before we even had aircraft to fly, we had values to guide us. They shape our culture and they’re how we inspire. Our values of Safety, Caring, Integrity, Passion and Fun drive our work and the decisions that we make every day. We’ll let one of our Crewmembers explain: “Our values are ingrained in us from day one at orientation and what I love about our values is the ownership piece. Everyone brings these values to life in their own unique way but we’re all in this together.”
At JetBlue, we believe our real value is in what we give back–not a title, an office or a paycheck. Everyone matters and everyone is a part of the team. Our culture and leaders are real, friendly and down to earth. If you work at JetBlue, you’ll notice this spirit of openness at all levels of the company.
Walt Disney famously said, “It’s kind of fun to do the impossible,” and here at JetBlue, we agree. When crewmembers go the extra mile to live our values, we like to celebrate and reward great work. Through Lift, our online peer-to-peer recognition program, we dish out snaps to fellow crewmembers with gift cards of up to $100!
At JetBlue, diversity isn’t just skin-deep. Integrity is one of our values, and we embrace diversity of thought, diversity of background, different ages and abilities, different approaches and different sexual orientations. Embracing this kind of diversity means really being able to appreciate, respect and value crewmembers’ points of view across the spectrum. Yes, JetBlue is a proud, equal opportunity employer—and we think it’s more fun that way, too.
We could talk about how caring, fun, passionate, nice and smart our crewmembers are–but we like to show it instead. That’s why for 11 consecutive years, we’ve earned the JD Power Award for delivering the best customer satisfaction of any low cost carrier in North America. Just ask Orlando-based crewmember Judith, who toured our entire network of BlueCities in fewer than 90 days with her good pal, JD–check out their wild journey!
JetBlue is full of passionate people who want to make a difference in the world. Through our Community Connection volunteer program, we help crewmembers connect with meaningful opportunities to inspire something special in their own backyards. In 2014,1,584 crewmembers completed 103,372 hours of community service. For every 25 hours of service logged, our crewmembers earn the opportunity to donate a return flight to any charity of their choice.
It’s how all JetBlue crewmembers inspire others–in the board room, at the gate, on the aircraft and everywhere in between. We embrace five key principles of leadership to empower all crewmembers to make a difference by positively influencing others where they are. Our Principles of Leadership are 1) Treat people right 2) Do the right thing 3) Communicate with your team 4) Show initiative and innovation, and 5) Inspire greatness in others.
Here, inspiration might strike by the pool, at the gym or even playing pool with your fellow crewmembers at our friendly Tailfin Bar. The JetBlue Lodge at our Orlando Support Center and Training Facility is a beautiful home away from home and cultural center for JetBlue crewmembers visiting Orlando for new hire orientation or recurrent training.
Being ‘green’ saves bucks. By using less fuel and recycling much of our waste, we cut costs. Keeping oceans and communities clean boosts tourism, increasing our customer base. On any given day, hundreds of crewmembers are working to translate our sustainability ideals into our operations and decisions. We know that environmental responsibility cannot be a side consideration – it requires full-time dedication, and we have multiple crewmembers focusing specifically on these issues.
